Executive Order Requires Face Masks

Description automatically generated with low confidenceA new executive order took effect on February 2 that requires the use of face masks when traveling on federal property and using public transportation, including airplanes, buses, trains, subways, seaports, transportation hubs, taxis, and ride-sharing vehicles.

OSHA Provides an Expanded Collection of Resources

OSHA has created a list of general COVID-19 resources grouped by agency, sections with resources on reopening workplaces, cloth face coverings and respiratory protection, and vaccines, and additional industry-specific COVID-19 resources grouped by industry.

President Biden Issues Workplace Safety Executive Order

Late last week, he issued an executive order instructing the secretary of labor to “consider whether any emergency temporary standards on COVID-19, including with respect to masks in the workplace, are necessary.”

OSHA Issues ‘Stronger’ Workplace Guidance on COVID-19

Description automatically generated with low confidenceOn January 29, OSHA published new guidance on mitigating and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. In a press release, OSHA said the new guidance is “stronger worker safety guidance” intended to inform employers outside of the healthcare industry about how to identify the risks of exposure to COVID-19 and determine the appropriate control measures for their respective workplaces.
