2019 Legislative Fly-In Recap:
As spring finally took hold in the nation’s capital, IEC members and and chapter staff gathered in Washington, D.C. to attend IEC’s Legislative Fly-In at the Liaison Hotel on Capitol Hill.
The conference, designed to explore today’s legislative landscape, ran the gamut from advocacy education to award presentations to congressional visits.
An advocacy training session delivered by David Lusk, Founder and CEO of Key Advocacy, illustrated just how members could influence policymakers’ opinions with unique personal stories.
We honored Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA) and Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) with our Legislator of the Year awards , and Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) with our Rising Star award. These three individuals have shown their unwavering dedication in supporting the merit shop position.
The highlight of the Fly-In was the member visits to their representatives’ offices on Capitol Hill. It was an invaluable opportunity to share stories and crucial information about IEC’s goals and opinions.
Everyone made the most of our evening networker held at the popular Art & Soul restaurant in the host hotel. The beautiful spring weather drew folks out on to the patio to connect with each other while enjoying the evening air and a live auction held to benefit IEC’s Political Education Fund was fun for all!
All of us here at IEC National hope you enjoyed Legislative Fly-In 2019 and we appreciate the time and effort you put into your participation. A special thank you goes to Milwaukee Tool for sponsoring our Legislator of the Year breakfast and awards presentation.
