Perkins Legislation Advances in the Senate

Prior to the Independence Day recess, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions unanimously approved a bill reauthorizing the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act would revamp the Perkins Act, which Congress last reauthorized in 2006, in an effort to better align career and technical education with the needs of the business community. The House passed its version of the bill last summer and it’s now ready for consideration by the full Senate.

IEC continues to actively support Perkins reauthorization and is working with its allies in the Jobs and Careers Coalition to advance this legislation.
