IEC Submits Comments on Proposed EEO Apprenticeship Rule
Posted in: Legislative Updates
On January 20, 2016, IEC submitted comments on the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) proposed rule to update the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) in the Apprenticeship and Training title (29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 30) of the National Apprenticeship Act of 1937. IEC made a number of recommendations to the DOL, which includes reconsidering a blanket seven percent utilization rate for people with disabilities for all registered apprenticeship programs, providing more clarity on requirements to investigate impediments to equal opportunity, as well as other ways the DOL could make the rule less onerous and burdensome to IEC chapter sponsors.
