IEC Issues Comments on Association Health Plans
Posted in: Capital Watch
On March 6, IEC submitted comments to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in response to its proposed rule that was issued as a result of President Trump’s executive order titled, “Promoting Healthcare Choice and Competition Across the United States,” which directs the federal government to expand access to Association Health Plans (AHPs). In the EO, DOL was directed to reconsider its definition of “employer” under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and identify ways to promote AHP formation on the basis of common geography or industry.
With the assistance of Ogletree Deakins, IEC submitted a series of recommendations that would help make a new framework for AHPs more workable for IEC. >A copy of the comments can be viewed by clicking here.
