Act Now! Comments Urging DOL to Rescind Persuader Rule Due Today
Today is the deadline to submit comments to urge the Department of Labor (DOL) to completely rescind the Persuader Rule. If you have not already done so, you may submit your own comments to DOL by clicking here.
On June 12, 2017, the DOL issued a new notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to rescind the Obama administration’s persuader rule. The Obama administration had proposed and expansion of the persuader rule that would subject all outside labor law attorneys and consultants, as well as the businesses that hire them, to certain reporting requirements. For decades, these reporting requirements have only applied to situations where businesses hired third party consultants that had direct contact with employees on labor matters.
Late in 2016, a federal judge in Texas issued a permanent injunction against the rule, preventing it from taking effect. IEC expects the Trump administration to drop its defense of the rule.
