Posted in: Legislative Updates
Late last month, the Department of Labor released the proposed rule implementing President Obama’s Executive Order 13706, Establishing Paid Sick Leave for Federal Contractors, which he issued on Labor Day 2015. The order requires employees of federal contractors to be granted seven days of paid sick leave annually and permits these hours to be carried over from year to year. The executive order only covers contracts entered into on or after January 1, 2017. IEC will review the proposed rule and provide comments, which are due on Monday, March 28, 2016.
