Members Helping Members Achieve More
What Exactly Is an IEC Forum?
Forum membership is an exclusive benefit for IEC members consisting of groups of electrical contractor principals comprised of 5-15 (avg) IEC member companies whom meet regularly to discuss matters of business and personal interest. Members are from different geographic areas and have similar business profiles.
Forums provide the vehicle for:
- A confidential, trustful environment for education and idea exchanges.
- Advice and problem solving on business and personal issues.
- Integration of business and personal considerations.
- Personal growth.
- Exchanging ideas on job safety.
- Promoting apprenticeship and training of electrical workers.
How Do IEC Forums Work?
IEC forums set their own rules and organize their own meetings. Forum groups typically meet a few times a year and often schedule meetings to coincide with IEC National conferences. Successful forums result when the members freely and openly interact with a complete understanding of the consequences of their statements, opinions, and support. They achieve success because they become a caring group. These forums are characterized by the extremely high level of personal respect shared amongst all forum members. An atmosphere of trust and openness is critical for a forum to advance the goals of all of its members. Some topics discussed in IEC forums include tracking labor, field employee compensation, training programs and incentives, hiring policies, and managing cash flow.
Who Joins a Forum?
Any IEC contractor member who feels they can benefit by learning and sharing with others! Usually, only company principals participate; however, some forums allow members of a firm's senior management team to take part in the activities and discussions. Since members are from noncompeting areas, the discussions can allow for full disclosure in a confidential setting.
